OUR STORY

The Conscious Professional is the Brainchild of Director, Neil Seligman.

Here he explains how the business came to be:

“I graduated from Bristol University in 2000 with a law degree and a qualification as a Reiki Master.  University had been an incredible time of learning and discovery and I was fascinated not only by succeeding in life, but with the nature of life itself.  I went through Bar School and joined a prestigious set of Barristers Chambers in London where I practised civil law for 8 years.   Although I loved the challenge and the skills I was using, I felt uninspired by the environment and I came to feel misaligned with much of the work that I was being paid to do.  The only surprise to me when I left practice in 2009 was that I didn’t have a clear plan as to what I was going to do next!

The next 3 years were spent travelling, exploring my creativity through photography and performance and deepening my connection to the energetic and spiritual dimension of life that had always fascinated me.

In this period I also committed to my development as a professional skills trainer.  I had begun teaching whilst still in practice as a Barrister in 2005 and I increased this when I left the Bar, working as a Consultant for Fresh Professional Development and Bond Solon.  In the course of my career thus far, I have worked as either counsel, coach or trainer for more than half of the top 100 UK law firms including DLA Piper, Olswang, Eversheds, Norton Rose, BLP, Addleshaw Goddard and Irwin Mitchell.

My move away from the Bar in 2009 also coincided with an increase in my client work at the Holistic Life Practice in North London and at the renowned Joshi Clinic. I have experience coaching professionals from trainee to CEO and Minister level.

When I created The Conscious Professional Ltd in 2012 suddenly the twists and turns of my career made sense.  Everything that I had been doing finally pointed in the same direction!

My goal with The Conscious Professional is to support the conscious business movement, to be an advocate for mindfulness at work and to help bring deeper alignment to the lives of professionals in the UK and beyond.

Perhaps it is no surprise that my two passions are the pursuit of excellence and witnessing the unfolding of human potential.

I look forward to sharing the onward journey with you.”
